PET Wire

PET Wire is a polymer wire which can replace traditional steel wire in agricultural applications. It is used to support crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, grape vines, or any crop that requires vertical trellising in open field or protected cultivation. Maxigro PET Wire can also be used to support shadenet houses.

There is an initial reduction of volume of material required up to 40% when using PET Wire as opposed to traditional steel and galvanised wires.

Benefits and Features

  • Maintains elasticity, eliminating re-tensioning. and it does not kink; particularly well suited for vine lifting. Always tightened, even in lower position. Saves time lifting and lowering the wires.
  • UV resistant
  • Ease of maintenance – maintains constant tension (provided installed correctly: tension = 1% of the length of the row), saving time and labour costs.
  • Easy to repair: simply knot two ends together to join (or use a griddle or crimping sleeve).
  • Light-weight
  • Thermally stable – unlike steel wire, it does not sag in high temperatures
  • Cost effective: more cost effective to galvanised or standard steel wire.
  • Labour saving on installation – easy and quick to install – knots are only needed at end posts equipped with appropriate clips or holes (no staples or nails required).
  • Rust free – no rust occurs on PET Wire when using misters or foggers.
  • Longer lifespan  – we use virgin HDPE and not recycled plastic which results in a longer life – less perishability.

Clips

  • We use a 2% UV stabilizer in our clips with POM (Polyoxymethalene) which has excellent anti- aging properties (up to 8 years) with additional strength to the clip.
