The reason the farmer ordered the air pruning pots as opposed to the standard blueberry pot is because one of the varieties that he grows has a very vigorous root structure. It has been observed that this causes the roots to get root-bound in a standard blueberry pot. Hence his motive to try the air pruning pot for this variety to enable better development of the root system and the plant.
